Willem Marie Speelman (Drachten 1960) studied musicology at the University of Amsterdam and theology at the Tilburg University. He wrote his PhD on the semiotic dissertation "The Generation of Meaning in Liturgical Songs".
He worked seven years at the National Council for Liturgy of the Dutch Bishops Conference, and as pastoral assistant at the Students Church in Tilburg. He is assistant professor at the Franciscan Study Centre in Utrecht, where he teaches living spirituality.
